Re: Microsoft Debate
First topic message reminder :
If anyone is wondering, Windows 8 was originally intended for mobile devices but Microsoft had to develop the 8.1 patch because many people still use a desktop computer rather than a mobile device. Unfortunately there's going to be a time when support for win7 (which is what I'm using at present) will end, but I'm hoping that this doesn't happen anytime soon.

Re: Microsoft Debate
My pc is doing another 1803 update tonight, so guess its still not ready for the new one .
Re: Microsoft Debate
Yeah I have not gotten that new 1903 or whatever it is update yet either. I kind of missed the days when they released a new OS every 3 or 4 years, rather than how they do it now which is simply add new stuff to 10.
Re: Microsoft Debate
actually tester they have to keep up with technology and now from what i heard from a youtube channel that does windows 10 related things there will be no new features in future updates that are coming out and there going to push updates once a year for feature updates then 2 times a year from what i heard anyways i stay up to date with that stuff.
Re: Microsoft Debate
Well I don't keep up to date with that stuff either. I just wait for it to update itself with whatever update it may. But that is me

True but prior to this they did big releases of new operating systems to stay up to date with the times. I mean I suppose the current way of doing it is probably tremendously cheaper for Microsoft and even the consumer than the old way.
The main problem with the way they do it now is that they try to cater too many users at once I feel like and it leads to a lot of extra stuff most people don't need, want or use.
Re: Microsoft Debate
It is good to keep up to date but these updates to take time to install. I know every time there has been a Mircosoft update it takes a while to install

Re: Microsoft Debate
they don't cater to everyone at once there brandon they do it in waves first wave get's it first 2nd wave get's it after the first wave and so on that keeps from everyone downloading the update at the same time breaking microsofts servers you are part of the second and 3rd wave of people that get feature updates so the last % of people that get it will have faster Results in updating the feature update i always keep windows up to date no matter if it's a feature update or just the patches they send through windows updates
Re: Microsoft Debate
Every update still keeps old features as well, so they are catering to everyone really.
Re: Microsoft Debate
that depends they put new features in as well it's not just the old ones the Pause update feature has not been seen in windows 10 home before it has been in Pro and enterprise editions of windows 10 but it's a first for windows 10 home.
Re: Microsoft Debate
I know they add new features with the updates, I just meant they also don't really remove any old features with each update though.
Re: Microsoft Debate
I didn't know that this was a feature in windows 10 now... very interesting.

Well I felt like it was longer than 5 minutes when waiting for the update. The last time I was waiting for a update for Windows it felt like 15 minutes or more. If it does when I am sleeping then it would be a lot better. Then there is whole thing when you sign in saying we got new features for you or something like that. But it is something new with every update that comes. But it only happens when it says there is a new update. Anyways that is my thoughts

Re: Microsoft Debate
I guess it can take awhile if your machine takes it sweet time doing it, but it's not supposed to take very long.
Re: Microsoft Debate
my dad's computer took 4 hours to get the update installed i had to go out and keep checking it to make sure the update was installing it eventually installed he likes the new update first time i have not heard him complaning about his computer in a long time since so he must like having a fast computer again
Re: Microsoft Debate
Well I do have a Dell laptop but still it takes a while to install the update then after you finally get it signed it. It takes a while and I was wondering when it would be done. But that was one update I did have a long time. Not sure how long the recent updates would take. I wasn't home when the recent update from Windows was installed

Is it only slow during the updates or slow in general?
Re: Microsoft Debate
I am now on build 1809 after 1803 support ended yesterday. So far I haven't noticed much of a change.

It is just slow with install updates. Downloading the updates would take no time at all. Just installing them takes a while to install. That is why I would like them to install when I am sleeping since it can be done updating and installing with however long it takes. The one update was about internet security which didn't help at all since I did have internet security with McAfee. It seems like a useless update since I already had internet security already. That is my thoughts

I have been on Windows 10 since I got my laptop a long time ago. My last computer has Windows Vista on it before it crashed and stopped working. I wasn't sure if Windows Vista was Windows 7 or not. Been through so many versions of Windows I can't remember all of them

That's good, all though I personally have never heard of a Think Centre pc. Is that a brand?

Windows Vista was the (awful) predecessor to Windows 7. Windows 7 looked very similar to Vista, but worked a thousand times better and was one of the most popular operating systems (even to this day).
Re: Microsoft Debate
Hi yes sorry, it's a Lenovo ThinkCentre M82. Only thing is it had Windows 7 pro, which i just upgraded to windows 10.Brandon wrote:BlackScorpion wrote:Brandon wrote:Has anyone upgraded to Windows 10 noe that Windows 7 Support has ended?
