Discord vs Skype

Which do you prefer? I personally like Discord more. I love how it can be set up like an online community but with no cost to you.

But what are your thoughts?

I haven't really used discord so I don't know how it is. I use skype all the time though, so while it is not a fair vote, I vote skype simply because it's what I know and it has been around for forever as well.

Discord has been around for 2 years and already beats out Skype. They have text and voice channels. More variety, easy friend system. More customization stuff. Plus they are adding screen sharing and video calls soon as well.

I went with Skype because I like it and I know how to use it. Never heard of that other one at all

I still use Skype. I do have a lot of contacts on there. Just rarely I do Skype calls any more. Just to my uncle in Ontario. That is about it for a Skype call

I don't do skype calls much either anymore.

It is good if you enjoy doing it. I know Martin still does Skype calls with people. Just find it gets too much after a while. I would rather to do a video call with just one person. These group calls get to be too much going on at one time

i don't use skype much anymore then i use to i do use discord sometimes tho but not as much as i did in the beginning tho

discord mostly since i hardly use skype anymore.

I never heard of Discord at all. I don't know if it is the same as Skype at all. The only other one I did use was Zoom which is almost the same as Skype except you can set up meetings with other people

discord is about the same as skype i use it every once and a while since you can do your own servers on discord for groups.

Oh sounds real interesting. I have only used Skype and Zoom which are both good to talk to people on those. Discord sounds interesting I wouldn't use it at all

Zoom is a new one and i have only heard of it just Recently and it's mostly geared  for buisness so they can keep in touch they also have a mobile app too.

Go to https://zoom.us/ to check out Zoom. I do love it as I have used it before with my church for online meetings with other guys. It works out good since you have a meeting with two people or more than two people. Just create a account on there and get the zoom program to run on your laptop. You can also make your own meetings or join meetings. It does use your webcam and mic in a video. Check it out as I do like to use it when I need to

i heard about it but i don't think i would be willing to but it on my computer after i heard that the zoom app has alot of security flaws in it i really wouldn't trust it until they fix the said flaws i will see if i can find a link on it.

I am sure they will patch any vulnerabilities soon. Though keep in mind no program is ever 100% secure, it takes just one tiny little security hole and if a hacker finds it, they can exploit it. It's the risk we take in trusting technology in our lives.

very true but people are warned not to use it until it's patched tho and that is a given with any app that comes out and i found out it's a China made product so that screams lack of security all over it tho.

I don't do Zoom on my phone. It is usually on the program which does get updated with new patches or fixes to the program. I haven't had a problem with it so far. But the meetings I have had on there are very short. The longest was an hour with a few minutes later. I don't use it a lot just some times

people have been Zoom bombing the app means alot of trolls disrupting calls ect. i am the only one that might not put Zoom on my computer due to the fact they don't have there app under control a schools class has been disrupted due to youtubers crashing Zoom meetings ect. so Zoom is not a safe app to use until they have there back end in order so i am cautious of any new communication app that comes out either for windows and mac then again Zoom is made In china now you know it's not safe that China Pride Made in China
