Anyone here use Audacity?
Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone else here uses Audacity (the free and open source audio recording software)? I use it primarily to record jingles and voice overs and the like. Very good and useful software in my opinion.
Do you use it? If so, what is your favorite feature of the software?

Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
I currently do not use this program, but some of my friends and broadcasting colleagues have recently started prompting me to give it a try.

Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
I used it a little bit many years ago, but haven't in a long time. I am sure alot has changed in the years since.

Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
Like I said, I use it to record jingles and stuff for bgradionetwork. I have not used all the features of it yet, but I know it can do some cool stuff.
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
i played with the Echo effects and that was for the BGRN jingle i still have yet to do more with it and yes all my show archives are recorded in audacity as well
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
I used it again recently to make jigles for @twilightfm here. Very cool software with a lot more effects then I previously thought.
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
it's very awesome software when you know what your doing i been using audacity since 2012 i know the ins and outs of the software alot more then then most people but it's not hard to learn once you get use to it i like using the built in effects like delay echo reverb other things you can think of to add more life into what i'm recording like a jingle i might add an echo or a delay on the end to make it more fun in some ways
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
I tried to figure out the echo part, but I couldn't figure out how to do it for some reason.
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
well you can't use it on it's own you have to highlight a section of your waveform go up to effects add your echo and delay or what ever you want to add set your duration of how long you want it to be i leave it at the default setting i don't change it and then i click ok and then add it very simple
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
it's really not hard at all it just takes abit of practice is all to highlight and select the effect it may take alot of undo's until your happy with it
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
I've use it but didn't care for it, i'm currently using Adobe Audition, still trying to learn it. It's a very good program and can do lots of things, i'm trying to learn it so i can help out here with jingles and voiceovers.

Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
i use it all the time with the show archives i record the only editing i really do with those is cut out the beginning or end if it's to long i just do small editing before i save things what comes down into the original master recording copy of the show is 2 edits and maybe 3 if i'm not to lazy and want to scan through the wave form of a 4 hour show and cut things down a bit for the most part alot of it is un edited and left that way i just chop off the beginning and end of the archive

What didn't you like about it? Also I am guessing Adobe Audition is not free?

Too basic, Adobe Audition is not free, but can do a whole lot more.

Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
it now has a custom Look more like the mac version with the square buttons the PC version has always had the round buttons for the longest time so they wanted to make it look the same cross platform wise the software also has a dark mode as well that i kind of like but Audacity has changed alot over the years for windows

Cool what is your favorite feature?
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
audacity used the classic look for the longest time for windows from what i remember.
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
it kind of changed abit due to how customized it is now then it use to be but it still functions the same tho
Re: Anyone here use Audacity?
I mean yeah they modernized the look of it a little bit as to be expected, but the basic layout of the design has remain relatively unchanged through the years.
