Analog Vs Digital Audio Mixer - Which is better?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering which type of mixer you prefer to use and which is better? An analog mixer or a digital audio mixer? Which of these 2 are better and why?

Looking forward to seeing you guy's thoughts soon.

Hold onto that Radio Shack mixer for as long as you can Aaron, as anything from Radio Shack is VERY rare as of 2019. I suspect that its quite valuable too, considering the fact that it still works.

You can actually still buy Radio Shack products online or at a HobbyTown (atleast in the USA anyway).

ya but the newer stuff really where not built with quality in mind tho there actually made cheaper then the mixer i have right now i had this one since 2004 so the mixer is still kicking years later

Thats technology in general now Aaron. Nothing lasts more then 3 to 5 years anymore.

but the older stuff still run's good tho that's why i keep it in the setup even tho the EQ is dead still a good mixer

That's good, but even your old will die eventually.

ya it might but i don't count on it dying yet being that it still works and has lasted 15 years old so far i'm going to push it at least when it hit's 20 years old then i might replace it with a new board to put into the desk who knows i might replace it before then who knows

How old is your other board?

my other board about 3 years old i think since i got it in the summer of 2016 or so

That is likely to replace your other board when it eventually dies then right?

You don't know that though, I mean usually when tech like that dies, it goes suddenly. Either way I would say you got your moneys worth out of it for sure.

so far so good Knock on wood mixer is still rocking thing refuses to die it's been through an attempt to fix it back in 2012 smoked it out still works so when the thing decides to die then i replace it and there won't be any down time since i have a backup mixer just in case

Your lucky then, because most tech simply dies after 4 or 5 years and can not be repaired.

I have since upgraded to a DJ-Tech DX 3000 USB it's a USB mixer i like it and it's full Digital for the most part i can Still use turntables and CD Players

If you had to pick a favorite mixer of all the mixers you have used what would it be?

I currently don't have a digital mixer and NEVER had an analog one, so I honestly can't say which one is better.

You do not have any mixer Art .

I was alluding to that point in my earlier post Brandon. The part about not knowing if a digital mixer is better than an analog one is 100% true however.

Digital Mixers still work the same as there analog counter parts the only difference is inputting and outputting audio out the same cable from your computer with the mixers built in soundcard works about the same way as your stereo mix but only you control the audio with physical faders then virtually through your computers sound settings it's a physical thing you interact with it while also keeping a lot of the analog functions of a normal Mixer and DJ Mixers with built in USB do this really well both analog and Digital with USB onboard the Mixers soundcard is also built into the Analog signal Path as well so even the analog stuff that's plugged in like a CD player or turntable also get's sent to the Record Path of the USB Only not the audio signal in for computer audio that's different that's on the input side of the bus of the same USB cable.
