Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone.
Just wanted to say that the railroad's operations continue to remain somewhat sporadic (as of 9;35AM CDST on 3/13/2023), but they do happen. The 5415 and former PRLX 5372 are the most recent locomotives to see operation actually, and they operated a westbound manifest train. While one of its most powerful units (former CP Rail AC4400CW 8632 remains stored in its freight yard in Hillside, the other two (former CN Rail C44-9WL's 2522 &220) remain out of sight at this time. For reasons I'm not aware of, the railroad is on a tank car collecting binge at present, and has entered negotiations to purchase another 40' triple dome version.
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any passenger trains performing operations on the PLRX in the past 48 hours. I will mention them on here if such does happen however.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello all,
Just wanted to say that the situation with the railroad remains more or less the same (as of 2:40PM CDST on 4/15/2023) but it has managed to acquire another car for woodchip service. This car, former CP Rail 361094, is a 40' open hopper with offset discharge bays. I'm not too sure when it will actually be used, but I'm reasonably optimistic that such will be happening soon.
Unfortunately there's no sign of the storage tanks needed by the paper mill in Arlee or gas pumps for Al's Service in Oakdale at present, but its hoped that such will be happening soon. As for the other operations, there's been a few trains but most of these have been westbound manifest freights over the main. There hasn't been any passenger service operating as yet, but perhaps one will be taking place at some point.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, here are some updates (as of 1:00pM CST on 5/2/2023).
The 36094 has transported its first load of woodchips now, and has become a full-fledged member of the woodchip equipment family now.
Its also worth mentioning that the transport of grain and malt barley is on-going.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone,
While there's a great deal of sadness in my life at present due to the recent loss of a beloved family pet, I have managed to keep appraised of the railroad's ongoing development. As of 10:00AM CST on 5/9/2023, it has gained usage of another tank car. This car, road no. 2387, was owned by Mobilgas and will be used to transport this product over the PLRX.
Unfortunately, its first official run over the railroad didn't go well (due to some physical condition issues) but these have been fixed by the railroad. Its my own fault but this railroad also has access to a tank car that carries a product called Cyanamide.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello again all.
While there's not too much going on railroad-wise I do feel somewhat obligated to say that the Phoenix Line has managed to acquire a pair of 40' boxcars from a railroad that has shut down recently. Unfortunately both need to spend time in the PLRX's maintenance yard due to compatibility issues with their couplers. This work has already begun however, and should be done soon.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the PLRX's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone.
While the railroad has performed some operations recently (as of 10:25PM CDST on 6/29/2023), the majority of them have been westbound manifest trains. Unfortunately I have no idea when an eastbound manifest train will operate or when any of the passenger trains will operate, but I will try to keep everyone on here informed.

Hello all,
Don't have a lot to say at present but the loading and transport of raw grain and malt barely continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello all, here are some updates (as of 9:30AM CDST on 7/7/2023).
1.) Unfortunately there's been a work stoppage at Arlee's paper mill recently but this was due to switch point issues and these have been resolved now.
2.) Oakdale has received a shipment of supplies recently too, but the cars making the delivery have been spotted for removal now.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello all, got some updates on the Phoenix Line Railroad's situation to share today (7/21/2023). While the transport of grain and malt barley goes on, a work stoppage has occurred at Arlee's paper mill. Such is the case because most of the railroad's woodchip car fleet has been interchanged, and no loads of paper are being transported.
Hopefully this will change at some point in the future, but I honestly don't know at the present time.
Please stay tuned as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Hello all, here are some updates that I'm sharing with you.
As of 9:25AM CDST on 8/1/2023, the paper mill in Arlee has received some loads of woodchips now. I'm not too sure when it will be shipping paper yet, but I will let you all know when it happens. Unfortunately, tanker car 1246 has been in an accident recently. On the plus side, its been repaired and gone back into service.

Re: Train sets!
Hello again everyone, just a quick update here.
As of 2:50PM CDST on 8/30/2023, work to get some skirting installed on the layout has begun. I am not sure when this work will be completed however, as other priorities continue to create problems. As for tanker car 1246, its been decided that said car will be retired from service and scrapped due to significant frame damage.

Re: Train sets!
Hello all, have some happy and sad news to share today (9/30/2023).
First, the good news:
While the railroad has managed to acquire some new freight cars, another one has been retired due to damage suffered in an accident. Its also managed to acquire another well car so a few more of its shipping containers can be taken out of storage and used.
Now, the bad news...
The manager (and builder) of the PLRX is has come down with a MAJOR illness in the past two or so weeks. He has asked that the details be kept private, but said illness is serious enough that it may bring the days of this railroad to an end. I will do what I can to keep people informed about this.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone,
Got some more bad and good news to share as of 6:35PM CST on 11/22/2023.
First, the bad news...
Despite several attempts, the PLRX's shops hasn't been able to get its former Mobigas tanker to work properly. As a result, its been sent to the nearest scrapyard for disposal. It also managed to acquire a former CP Rail tank car for a few parts but this didn't help things. Said car is now in use as a storage building for the service station in Oakdale.
Unfortunately but not surprisingly, all development on said railroad has come to a complete stop due to the major illness I mentioned in the previous post. I'm not happy about this but it can't be helped.
Now, the good news...
The PLRX's shops have finally managed to find time to perform work on the railroad former CP Rail heavyweight MOW cars in order for them to be useable on the railroad's track maintenance train. Its hoped that this work will be done by Christmas but such isn't guaranteed.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues (even though it may be coming to an end at some point).

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to say that (as of 11:10AM CST on 12/5/2023), I can now say that the PLRX's builder has a TERMINAL illness and doesn't have a lot of time left. He is doing what he can to get his final affairs in order, and has ordered a special train to be made up. This work is progressing but, unfortunately, has created some issues with the railroad's other operations.
The future of the railroad remains to be seen for now, but I'm cautiously optimistic about it.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello again everyone,
I come to all of you with a HEAVY heart today (as of 3:35PM CST on 12/6/2023) as the PLRX's builder (and founder) has decided to end his life earlier than originally planned. This has forced the railroad's executives to move their plans to build a special "funeral train" up. Another car (its former Great Northern Railroad 50' gondola) has been added to the train too, so its more or less ready to be operated now.
Unfortunately, the future of the railroad still remains VERY much in doubt but I will do what I can to keep all of you informed.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, got some some mixed news to share (as of 12/9/2023).
While the PLRX's owner and builder continues to decline health-wise, said railroad's three former CP Rail heavyweight maintenance of way cars have been released from the car and locomotive shop. These have undergone some mainline testing and things went relatively smoothly. The trio haven't been added to the railroad's track maintenance train yet but such will be happening very soon.
Please stay tuned for further ipodates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues (even though such may be coming to an end).

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to say that the builder (and president) of the PLRX has passed away now, and such happened on 12/13/2023. The railroad has run its special funeral train now but, unfortunately said train has experienced multiple issues. Something else that has caused issues is that former CP Rail 404910 continues to be problematic on the PLRX's rails.
The car is going back into the shops in an effort to try an resolve said issue however. In spite of this, the road's Track Maintenance Train has done a few laps over the tracks.
Please stay tuned for further updates as what might be the final chapters of the Phoenix Line Railroad's story play out.
