Anyone know the difference between Skype and Microsoft Teams?
Hey everyone,
I have noticed a lot of commercials and ads for Microsoft Teams since the start of the pandemic. I am wondering anyone knows what the difference between Skype and this Teams program is?
I also wonder why they are promoting this lesser known program, instead of focusing on their well known and established skype. It almost seems like they are not focusing on Skype anymore. Which could explain why it continues to not work as well as it used to back in the day.

Its hard to say for sure, but the fact that people are more interesting in using mobile devices then desktop PC's may have something to do with this.

Indeed ordinarily this would be true, but right now with a lot of people still working from home, a lot of people are being forced to use their computers again. Which is a big part of why there is a shortage of computers, microphone headsets and webcams right now.
Regardless though, Skype has both a mobile app and a computer program, so it still doesn't example why they want to start something completely different when they already have Skype and significant (albeit shrinking) marketshare with that. It's almost like their trying to marketshare from themselves???
Re: Anyone know the difference between Skype and Microsoft Teams?
i mean there is still room for skype most people have come back to that for General Use and it's more then likely microsoft isn't going to kill it off anytime soon since there is still people that Use Skype with teams tho it might do good on the Business side of things were it is most needed and skype is just for normal everyday use like it always have been.

Not sure about this at all since I haven't seen any ads on Skype at all. The last time I did use Skype was a long time ago

I have also seen commercials for Microsoft Teams since this virus thing started, I have no idea what the difference between it and Skype is though.

teams is more like having everyone's video on screen at once much like skype but i don't know how it would compare to it since there focus is connecting business's together using teams over Zoom and or skype at least that's what microsoft is trying to do with teams anyways just my thoughts.
