Train sets!
First topic message reminder :
i am also still looking for some more cylindrical grain hoppers, and also anything of interest in the way of model buildings and track-side scenery, so feel free to offer some up if you have any laying about or know how to come about them

Re: Train sets!
update,
pulpwood load worked fine, may keep it to 2 levels though, as the load as it is was quite heavy in the 50' bulkhead already at liptonville, talked to a buddy about it earlier and buddy says i should not have used white school glue for the project, as it can be quite heavy, so will maybe try again with a lighter weight glue that buddy will lend to me. and josh, for the colors, type [color=#colorcode] your message and then end it with a closed bracket saying /color or click the colors box in the top line and you will have a colored message. although this has gotten us off topic again, and this color query should be in the tech support section.

it is a type of wood used to make paper and paper products, it is often shipped by rail to pulp mills to be processed into paper
1mtvfan wrote:2nd level of load is almost complete, may only go one more level
1mtvfan wrote:further update, will test the load to see if i should or shouldn't add a 3rd level to it or not. may have to abandon the idea and go back to original load, saw a load online, but my dad has said to try and buy it at the nearest hobby store instead of online, online would be cheaper, but dad has still said no, and i know i am not going to keep the pipe loads i made in my 50' bulkheads all the time, nor do i want to run them empty all the time either, so my only other option is to put them away in their boxes and leave them there on the shelf.
Thanks for these updates on your #train_set . How does this pulp wood come into play on your train set? What are going to use it for?
DJJosh wrote:1mtvfan wrote:on the window where you type, hit the colors square
I did that more than once and it didn't work. I also tried to change the font to times new roman that didn't work either. I thought I was doing it right but nothing happened
1mtvfan wrote:on the bar above the text window, hit the colors button josh, also, will be testing the new pulpwood load tonight to see if i should add another level or not.
Brandon wrote:Is this the icon your pressing for the colors @DJJosh ?
Yes that is the one I pressed more than once Brandon. Every time I pressed that and picked a color. Then I did post it didn't show up as the color as I did choose. I did the same with font which looks like a capital A and put it to Times New Roman. It looks like it didn't change the font at all. I thought I was doing it right but nothing happened at all

Re: Train sets!
update, load ran fine on the 50' bulkhead flat, but i have neglected to factor in the shrinkage of the branches once they were cut, so they no longer fit snug on the other bulkhead flatcar i have intended to purpose for this, so the load i made has become a static woodpile, and i will have to sadly start again from square one. Am really limiting my time spent at the layout as i am sick and tired of seeing a bare bones skeleton, so what i thought would happen has come to pass, a year has gone by and still no rock faces or landscaping is in place, so it means another summer will be spent sitting out on operating sessions

Re: Train sets!
Well I Josh, if you start a new topic in the support section of bd I will help you resolve this issue further.

Re: Train sets!
yes, the support section is a better fit for this issue. and to update everyone, the pulpwood load plan is back on, although starting back at square one to allow the choice of branches to dry out and shrink before loading them onto the bulkhead flat again

Re: Train sets!
waiting for the chance to get some more branches, paid a visit to the layout today, although i am cutting back my time on visits due to my sick of the sight of a bare bones skeleton every time i visit, was able to fix a coupler issue to a more permanent level though, so an upswing for the visit, as well as a new video being made.

That is very true too. Just hobby shops wouldn't be so popular now

Re: Train sets!
it's sad, but the fact of the matter is that they're closing at an alarming rate, at one point there was four or five in my city alone, but they've all closed one by one, so now there's only two left, and one of those two will be closing soon.

Yes it seems to happen with hobby stores like that. If they get no business at all they close down. Soon there won't be any at all

i will do what i can, but the one closest to my house just closed down without notice, so it's never certain when they close

Re: Train sets!
I am wanting to visit the setup but a cold is knocking me down a lot lately and getting over it is my top priority right now. I also have something to say about 1mtvfan's aggravating & baffling but continuous behavior regarding the setup, but *sighs* such would only start another pointless & stupid argument.

Re: Train sets!
If 1mtvfan hasn't mentioned it yet, he & I have a "produced" video of the set. I don't think that it can be posted on here though, which is a shame.

Re: Train sets!
paid a visit to the set the other night, may go tonight, but have my doubts as the house is needing work, which may negate any chance of a visit, will have to call about it and see

Well I would love to see that video. But I am guessing if it isn't posted then oh well. But it would be nice to see the video that was made
