Is Satellite TV better then cable?

Hello everyone, I wanted to know if Satellite TV is better then Cable TV, if so why? If not why? I know one is cheaper, but are there any other advantages?

What do you mean not very much, that is the only benefit satellite tv companies have, there cheaper and they have sports channel.

I would agree with MTVfan, but most cable signals are digital now and some people need to use digital-to-analog converter boxes in order to watch their tv (thankfully such doesn't happen very often).

Well, I do not know about Canada or even else where in the USA but here in my state lot get Satellite tv for it being cheaper to afford and has like every sports channel known to man. Those that get usually can barelly afford the cable prices but I know a few who have just because they can.

Cable signals are smooth and seamless, and are not affected by weather

I never cable was a bad thing, I am just pointing out that for the cheaper price you can get satellite tv that hardly ever goes out, unless there is a really bad storm it will go out completelly, but cable will likely go out with such a storm, with the power outages and the like.

I know of a few apartment blocks that won't allow satellite TV due to the problem of installing a dish actually.

My old apartment complex only allowed it if it was installed to a concrete block!

That is okay by me but the block that my girlfriend lives in has a "no exceptions" policy when it comes to its cable TV only policy.

Oh ok, my old apartment complex had the same policies as testers, except they only allowed certain buildings this exception.

Maybe in Canada, but in places of the USA the small difference is a big difference.

you get what you pay for either way, but cable is just plug and play. Satellite needs a signal box for each tv set.

Yes, but has I said, cable is really expenisive, even if it is a little less money spent, every dollar counts, besides the signals are not that different from each either now a days.

Nethier does sattellite anymore, as I keep saying satellite tv has come a long way, clouda and averge rain have little to no affect on it anymore, what will affect are the big storms, the ones thag knock power, in which case cable is not safe ethier, cant work without electritcy.

Not anymore Mtvfan, they have made the Dish's a lot less sensitive now a days, when satellite first came out early in the 21st century it did go out with the slightest rain shower, now it takes a thunder and Lighting to have make it go completely out. It is not that much worse then cable now a days.
