Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone!
Once again I don't have a lot to say here (as of 1:35 PM CDST on 6/15/2020) but the loading and Phoenix Line's transport of grain and malt barley continues. The railroad will be getting getting its 57th grain hopper at some point in the very near future but its hard to say for sure when this will be happening. It also plans to retire one of these cars.
This car won't be getting scrapped though, as the railroad plans to use it as a storage building at the town of Oakdale's barley & grain facility. I'm disappointed to say that the three former CP Rail Maintenance-of-way cars owned by the railroad are still in storage at New Roanoke at this time due to lack of skilled personnel and other priorities.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone!
As of 2:10 PM CDST on 6/23/2020, there still isn't a lot going on with the Phoenix Line. I'm sorry about the lack of activity here but such is beyond my control.

Re: Train sets!
Building and then operating a model train layout is NOT a top priority for me and my family. Plus, according to my dad, expanding and improving on the setup is a winter project. I've tried explaining this to my older twin brother several times (including on here) but such has almost always been completely ignored.BlackScorpion wrote:yeah , it's like everything else, things slow down or stop for a bit then pick up again. thanks for the update.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, got another couple of updates to share here!
As of 2:40 PM Central Daylight Saving Time on 7/14/2020, the railroad has built a switch tower in the town of Stackville. Despite being old technology, this tower controls all of the switches in this town's inter-modal yard as well as a few on the mainline tracks. Also, the railroad's former demonstrator car (former CN 370708, which is a cylindrical covered hopper) has been slightly problematic while passing over the switch points that allow access to the yard at Hillside.
Unfortunately a lack of funds means that the railroad is unable to fix this problem. The need to move slowly in rail yards has helped to remedy the situation, but not all that much.
Please stay tuned as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, here's another update!
As of 8:30 AM Central Daylight Saving Time on 7/22/2020, the loading and transport of grain and malt barley continues. One of the railroad's barley hoppers (former Santa Fe hopper no.307176) has made a trip to the car and locomotive shops for some light repairs as well. The railroad's lone AC4400CW (former CP Rail 8635 has made some test runs on the mainline, which have proven to be successful.
The track maintenance train has also made a few trips over the mainline but no repairs needed to be done during this time. Unfortunately, the heavyweight cars that are meant to be used by this train are still in storage due to other priorities. The railroad's wreck train also remains out of service at present, as it still needs accommodations for its workers.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Hello everyone!
Don't have a lot to say here (as of 6:00 PM CDST on 7/29/2020), but the loading & transport of raw grain and malt barely continues. There has been some talk of the railroad gaining permission to haul a few more containers, but such is only rumor at this time.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, got another small update to share today!
As of 9:40 AM Central Daylight Saving Time on 8/3/2020, the loading and transport of raw grain and malt barley continues. The railroad's chief mechanic has expressed concern about two of its cylindrical covered hoppers however, as their loading hatches are not closing properly and aren't able to be secured as a result. Also, the railroad has decided to store its three former CP Rail heavyweight maintenance-of-way cars in Rustyville's passenger car yard instead of its equipment yard at New Roanoke now.
Such has been decided because their current physical state (which is very good, almost better than brand new) warrants their display to the public. Diner 411297 and Sleeper 411296 will not be used, but former baggage car 404910 may be used for storage. Unfortunately its still unknown when these cars will serve their intended purpose (work service with the railroad's track maintenance train) however, as the PLRX continues to suffer from issues related to their financial position and priorities.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
As of 7:05 PM Central Daylight Saving Time on 8/5/2020, the Phoenix Line Railroad is looking for the following items:
-A 25-ton industrial crane for its track maintenance train
-kitchen and bunk cars for its wreck train (as this train's crew doesn't have any of these at present).
-at least one centerbeam flatcar to transport insulation.
-another 20' as well as 40' shipping container.
It also needs to make some time to accommodate for the work needed to modify the coupler gearboxes of its former CP Rail heavyweight cars, which I have mentioned before.
I'll keep doing what I can to make sure those who are following this thread informed.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone,
Just letting you all know that things haven't changed on the railroad since my last post on here (as of 2:05 PM Central Daylight Saving Time on 8/8/2020), but the loading and transport of grain and malt barley continues. There were a couple of visitors to the railroad but such was a very brief affair.
Please stay tuned for further updates as this railroad's story continues.
