Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone!!!
Not much to report here but the 5937 remains in the railroad's car & locomotive shops at this time (11:15 AM CST on 2/28/2022).
The former CP Rail ACF covered hopper has been removed from the other maintenance area now, but has been put into storage due to lack of freight traffic.
Also, the loading and transport of grain & malt barley between Rustyville & Oakdale continues.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, here are some more updates (as of 10:00 AM CDST on 3/21/2022).
1.) Former CN Rail SD40-2 5937 has been moved into Hillside's car & locomotive shop now, but I've forgotten the reason for this.
2.) The lumberyard in Timberneck Gulch has been producing loads of lumber for the railroad but such isn't a daily thing.
3.) The most recent freight train to operate over the mainline was a merchandise train powered by former CP Rail SD40-2's 5415 and 6057. No passenger trains have been seen for some time now but such may change at some point in the near future.
4.) As usual, the transporting of barley and grain from Rustyville to Oakdale continues.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Hello all.
Don't have a lot to share today (7:10PM CDST on 3?24/2022) but, as usual, work at the grain elevators in Rustyville & Oakdale continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, got some updates to share (as of 12:40PM CDST on 4/3/2022).
1.) Former CP Rail 5415 & former Progress Rail 5372 have powered an eastbound freight recently, but there were several issues associated with the train.
2.) Former Conrail 8276 will have to spend some time at Hillside's car & locomotive shops soon, as its rear coupler has become a tad problematic.
3.) Development of the line will be coming to an end soon too, as its designer will be forced back to their real-life job.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello again everyone, got some bad as well as good news to share today (as of 11:25AM CDST on 4/5/2022).
Unfortunately one of the setup's power packs has died & left us with only a single operational one. This particular style of model train power pack remains in production however and can be found in most (if not all) hobby stores (which are becoming few & far between in my part of the world for reasons that remain completely beyond my understanding). The plan heavily revolves around purchasing another one as soon as possible and, once this task has been completed, the new power back will be hooked up to the setup and bring it back into full operation.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone.
Just wanted to say that the now-deceased power pack has been replaced (as of 3:50PM CDST on 4/7/2022).
Unfortunately the replacement is a used model that doesn't perform as smoothly as the one it replaced but its my only option at this time.
The railroad's other power pack still works for now but its going to conk out at some point as well and I for one have NO clue what we'll do when this happens.
Not surprisingly, the loading and transport of raw gran & malt barley continues.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Not as yet. Unfortunately the setup has been forced into another period of inactivity due to something I will refer to as unforeseen complications. I can honestly and openly admit that I am noticeably frustrated by this development but the only thing I can do is wait it out.

Hello everyone.
With the period of unforeseen complications behind it (as of 9:55AM CDST on 4/19/2022), the railroad has opened up for operations again. Unfortunately gran & malt barley are the only commodities moving however. One of its former DRGW hopper cars has made a trip through the shops recently but it only needed a minor repair.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone.
Just letting you know that as of 3:20PM CDST on 4/22/2022, the PLRX continues to transport grain and malt barley between the elevators at Rustyville & Oakdale. Unfortunately former CN Rail cylindrical hopper 109632 had to be taken out of service for a while, but has since been restored to service.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone.
Not a lot to share here, but the early preparations for the construction of a paper mill in Arlee have started now. Such will bring much-needed jobs to this town, but its currently unknown when this industry will be built.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, got some exciting news to share!
As of 11:50AM CDST on 5/1/2022, work to prepare the future site of Superior Paper has been completed. Its probably going to be a little while before the actual facility is built but its exciting to know that this matter is moving forward.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad conitnues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, got some updates to share (as of 9:30AM CDST on 5/6/2022).
1.) The railroad has received a new power pack (made by a company called Kato) now, as the one it replaced (made by a company named Hornby/Mechano) is an older model that is used and not the easiest thing to use.
2.) As previously mentioned, the town of Arlee will be getting a paper mill at some point in the future. The trackwork adjacent to the area its to be located needs to be modified before the aforementioned industry can be built however.
3.) Eight covered hoppers have been removed from barley and grain service now, but I've been informed that such has been done to allow for maintenance work. Unfortunately I'm not sure when this work will be done however.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, here are some updates to share as of 1:15PM CDST on 5/11/2022.
Work on the future site of the paper mill in Arlee continues but such will have to stop soon due to its builder resuming his seasonal job as a cemetery caretaker. Also, the railroad will be placing another 6 of its grain hoppers in temporary storage very soon due to a slowdown in grain shipments

Hello everyone, got some exciting news to share!
As of 5:05PM CDST 5/13/2022, the town of Arlee has a paper mill now! Unfortunately this building is quite large (even for a 1/87th scale model) and eats up a LOT of space in the corner that its been placed in. I will do what I can in terms of a photo of this.

Re: Train sets!
Update on my preceding post folks.
Here’s a pic of the latest industry.
The main building of Superior Paper. As seen, the industry already has a railcar and some some trucks visiting it. The chemical storage tanks needed by this industry will be added soon.
I will try to get the other pic on here soon.

Re: Train sets!
I agree with you Black Scorpion but expanding this railroad has been a challenge as of late, due to the limits and/or restrictions associated with the situation I refer to as "That Which Won't Be Named". My father's seasonal job also hurts the development but it can't be helped.BlackScorpion wrote:Awesome, it's about time you added some more cool pics of it.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone got some news to share (as of 3:10PM CDST on 5/18/2022).
The paper mill in Arlee has been receiving and shipping some loads now but still hasn't gotten its chemical storage takes as yet. Unfortunately cylindrical covered hopper 110040 (which continues to wear CNWX markings) has been in a major accident recently and received significant damage to one of its trucks as well as lost a lost a loading hatch in this accident.
It has received some repairs and a replacement hatch now but is out of service for the next 24-36 hours.
Its also worth noting that the railroad did take several more of its cylindrical covered hoppers out of service for some inspection and minor maintenance work as well but they've all been restored to service now.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the Phoenix Line Railroad's story continues.
